Artist Bio

Ashley Ellis, Visual Artist

Ashley Ellis is a Wisconsin-based artist whose practice in encaustic has spanned nearly two decades. Working with wax as her primary medium, she has developed a body of work rooted in depth, luminosity, and layered mark-making—exploring the tension between control and organic movement.

With a foundation in both painting and sculpture, Ashley approaches each piece with a sensitivity to surface, form, and material. Her work invites close looking, revealing subtle shifts in texture, tone, and gesture that evolve with light and time.

Her work has cultivated a loyal community of collectors and clients, while her parallel role as an educator has become a defining extension of her practice. What began as small, intimate workshops has grown into highly sought-after art experiences, welcoming artists of all skill levels from across the country.

Through workshops, intensives, and curated creative experiences, Ashley creates spaces that are both elevated and approachable—encouraging a deeper engagement with material, process, and personal expression.

She has also served as a juror and mentor within the arts community, supporting the development of fellow artists through thoughtful critique and guidance.

Ashley’s work is held in both public and private collections, and her practice continues to evolve through an ongoing exploration of material, process, and the quiet language of abstraction.
